This is a beginning class for those who have taken Learn to Quilt 101 or have some experience with rotary cutting and the 1/4" piecing seam. The Simple Irish Chain Quilt pattern gives you practice with these with its strips and squares - no triangles or bias edges to deal with.
This class will review the following:
Preparing the fabric for rotary cutting, how to use rotary rulers, and rotary cutter, rotary cutting and the safety involved, how to strip piece, sewing ¼ inch seams, match seams together, and sewing rows together to make the quilt top.
You will learn how to measure and add borders. How to layout the quilt top for pin basting; what binding is and how to apply it to finish the quilt. We pin baste your quilt top in the last class and talk about the walking foot and how to quilt your project. The quilting of this quilt will not be done in class.
This is an excellent beginning project because it has only 2 blocks; a 9 nine patch block and a solid block.
The diagram shows the background fabric as the light color; my class sample has the background being dark.
