School House 2017!

Come spend the day learning about new techniques, tools, patterns and the latest and greatest notions.  Arrive early (between 8:45 and 9:15 am) and start the day with coffee and breakfast pastries while you plan which classes to take.  Pick from over 20 classes that last about 25 minutes.  There will not be time to attend all classes though so bring a friend or two to cover them all.  You will get all the handouts from all the classes, even the ones you cannot attend.

No need to bring anything - we provide it all, including lunch and bottled water!  Seating is limited so call soon!  Your spot is reserved with your payment of $55 which includes EVERYTHING!!!

Contrast In Your Quilt -Why do some quilts capture your attention while you walk by others without noticing? When one does capture your attention, you stop to admire the design and the work it took to produce it. In this session, Barb will go over the importance of contrast and balance in a quilt.

Sergers Have Feet Too -Explore how helpful the gathering foot on a serger can be.  Easy to use and creat even gathers for ruffles on blankets and garments.
Creating Serger Trims -Never again be without trims to match, coordinate and embellish wearables and quilts.  Making trims is a wonderful way to express creativity and play with beautiful decorative threads.

3-yard quilts and Cuties -Is your stash big enough to apply for it's own zip code? Or maybe you need a quick quilt for a baby, birthday or friend...Donna Robertson's 3 yard quilt series will help! Deb will review the books and show some quilts to spark your creativity!   
Paper Piecing -You've heard of paper piecing, but you're not quite sure why you would need it or how to start. Deb will cover the basics of why, what you need, and 'how to'. We may even have time for a bit of hands on practice with a pattern designed just for school house!
Don’t Fear the Curves! -Does the thought of sewing curves make you stay on the 'straight seams' side of quilting?? Deb will introduce you to patterns and an easy technique that will have you loving curves!

Strip Club -Ok, Ladies it’s not that kind of strip club so you can leave your dollar bills at home. We do think you will find this fun all the same though! Come see samples of some of the patterns and the rulers that can be used to make them.

Cupcake & Cake Mix Recipes -Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosies’s Quilt Co. for Moda has come up with a clever way to use charm packs and layer cakes to create one-of-a-kind quilts. See how easy it is to make half-square triangles using this technique.
Fab Five Ruler -The Fab Five Ruler from Abbey Lane quilts makes cutting wedge shaped pieces faster and easier. Come check out the cute patterns using the fab five ruler you can make quickly and easily!

MSQC Block patterns and Disappearing Nine Patch –This session will review some of the newest MO Star Block patterns as well as dive into some of the Disappearing Pinwheel variances. So, dig out your favorite precuts and see what Kelly (and Jenni Doan) can show you.

Tunics, Tops & Washable Rayon … and how they play together -Garment Construction for the Sewist – No Serger Required. Martha will be sharing sizing tips & tricks so you can create simple garments using some of the newest patterns and fabrics.
Shortcut Binding Tool -Best Tool Ever! Allow Martha to show you what she has found to be the easiest and most accurate binding/flange tool from Franklin Quilt Company.
Introducing Digital Cutting to Quilters and Machine Embroiders -Join Martha as she shows how a digital cutter can benefit your quilting and machine embroidery no matter which digital cutter you have. Even if you’re just thinking about getting a digital cutter, you are welcome to come.

Marty Tarter
Mini Quilt of the Month -Join Marty to see how quickly and easily you can create one of these mini quilts. This upcoming monthly offering will include new techniques and skills that can be applied to these beauties and even scaled up for your future quilts.
Fiberworks with Laura Heine -Marty visited Laura’s workshop in Billings MT. and met her market. Come see what she has done and YOU can do too with fabric scraps and a fun technique. Lots of room for creativity but also, for those with fear of something new, it’s a great way to step outside that box. So much fun!

Sewing Toys and Tools! -This class will show you sewing toys and tools that are practical and fun. Remember we never have too many "screwdrivers".
Braid Template -Friendship  braid made easy! Learn how to use the braid template with strips of different sizes for quilts and borders.
