Such an awesome quilt! Start with the Hoffman Dream Big panel. Some cutting and piecing similar to a log cabin and WOW! - you get this wall hanging. Finishes 46". Add a 2" border with another 13" of contrasting fabric.

2nd panel or solid fabric 1 1/4 yard.
Sewing machine in good working order. It would be nice if you have your own rotary cutter and cutting mat, but not required.
