Beginner Sewing and/or Embroidery Class

Do you have a new sewing or embroidery machine (or new to you), and you don't know the basics?  Join our instructor Jennifer for a private 2-hour class.  Classes will be available on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:30-12:30, or Jennifer will schedule a time that works for both of you.  

The beginning SEWING class will focus on:
*Sewing machine parts and controls (needle types, presser foot, bobbin, feed dogs, start/stop, threading the machine and threading a bobbin).
*Fabric choices (fabric types, stretch vs woven, interfacing)
*Thread options (Thread weight, cotton, polyester, etc.)
*Basic sewing foundations (Straight stitch, backstitch, seam allowances, pivoting corners, zig-zag or decorative stitches)

The beginning EMBROIDERY class will focus on:
*Review your machine commands for embroidery (bring your users manual to class)
*Most embroidery machines have a separate arm unit, make sure you bring it to class
*Stabilizers and thread
*Finding designs, selecting them or download to a flash drive and add to your machine
*Design orientation and sizing
*Hooping stabilizer and fabric
*Thread color changes
*Jump stitches 
*What to do if thread breaks
*Ideas of what to embroidery projects
*Embroidery software

Classes must be registered by the close of business on Tuesday prior to the class on Thursday or it will be cancelled.
